Big Girl Bed!

Maddy got a big girl bed this week! This bed was mine in grade school and again in high school... and my mom's in high school. It was made in 1858 as a wedding gift for my great-great-great grandparents and has been in our family ever since! Maddy is the 7th generation to use it! I was really excited to get it put up in her room.
She was also really excited when she found it! I tried to catch her with her arms up saying, "Me big!" But, I wasn't quick enough! :-) She has done so great - three nights running and she hasn't been out of bed yet! (Knock on wood!)

Santa!

We made our annual trip to Worthington Square mall to see Santa, get a cookie at Cheryl's and eat at First Watch! Yummy!
The girls did great... Izzy clammed up when Santa asked her what she wanted, but with a little coaxing from Mommy, was able to blurt out "Barbies." Maddy surprised us all by saying "Bubble" which was a bit confusing. She has a fish named Bubble... when we got home, she pointed to the fish and said "Bubble - Santa," so we figures out that she wants something to do with fish.
Don't worry - Santa went to Target and found a fishing game for her age group... should do the trick! :-)
Merry Christmas!

Our little "Bug" is Two Today!

It's hard to believe that Maddy is already two years old!We had a great celebration this weekend in our church's worship area... we were able to use the church bouncy house, which was a HUGE hit with the kids. Our theme was a "Barnyard Bash" - so farmer Maddy and her friends rounded up some hidden farm animals around the room, and we decorated balloons to look like our favorite barnyard friends. Of course, cake and ice cream was the encore presentation, and we had just enough time to open gifts. There was a great mix of family, neighborhood and church friends - Maddy is blessed to have so many that love her!

All I want for Christmas...

You've just got to love that time of year when the Toys-R-Us Big Book shows up in the Sunday paper. When I was little, I remember the inch-thick JC Penney's catalog that would show up with toys galore!
Izzy uses scissors now, so I set the girls up with the Big Book and Izzy's scissors and they went to town cutting out the things they thought were the most interesting... needless to say, their stacks are much deeper than Santa's pockets! We did get some good ideas, though!

Happy Halloween

Once again we went Trick-or-Treating with our great neighbors, the Rheas and Hollands. We were also joined by Izzy and Nicholas' preschool friend who lives just a couple blocks away - her name is Ava.Here are the kids: Koala (Sammy H.), Frankenstein (Liam R.), Clown (Leo H.), Supergirl (Ava W.), Darth Vadar (Nic R.), Ladybug (Maddy F.), Bumblebee Autobot (Noah R.), and Sleeping Beauty (Izzy F.) - What a crew!Maddy was really into it this year, but wasn't able to keep up with the big kids. We skipped a few houses here and there, so we managed to stay with them for most of the evening. :-) You might remember this ladybug from a couple years back... Izzy in 2008... two days before Maddy was born!

I'm TWO!

Our sweet little Bug will be two in only a little more than a week... I can't believe how the time has flown. Today we had a photo shoot at JC Penney for Maddy's birthday.

PS - I'll post Izzy's preschool picture on Monday once I scan it! :-) Stay tuned.

Down on the Farm!

The Fry family played hooky from Sawmill Covenant Church on Sunday and went to lovely Ostrander, Ohio instead! We had a great day at Leeds Farm with our girls. Our punkins with some PUMPKINS!
Corn Box!
Pretty flowers... couldn't get the girls to focus on a picture - we were on our way to ride the banana bus!

Farm girls?
We were so fast Daddy couldn't get us while we were still in the "mountain slide!"
Izzy bouncing on the Pumpkin Jump!

Comin' down the "mountain" - the girls both loved the slides!

Go Bucks!

We had a great day on Saturday with Nick and Hannah Buchman. They came down from Michigan and left their daughter, Brooke, with her grandparents for a fun day out! Our friend from college, Erin Sauter, got us some great tickets! She works at OSU and found some open tickets last week... awesome! Our seats were the closest we've ever had. :-) We also enjoyed a tailgate with friends to watch the TOLEDO ROCKETS BEAT PURDUE prior to the Bucks victory over EMU. Here is Brett with some of his college fraternity brothers: Brett "Sweat" Dillon, Kris Parrish, and Nick Buchman. Each of them with a beer in hand... some things never change! It was so great to see everyone - hopefully we can do it again really soon!!

July 4th at the Lehew's

On July 4th, we trekked out to Pickerington for an afternoon cookout and evening of fireworks with some friends we know through Brett's work at Safe Auto, the Lehews. Below are some great shots that Angela Lehew got of the girls! I must say, Pick-town put up a good show and we had great seats! Better than Dublin's fireworks, in my opinion.

Happy Fifth!

Seven years ago today......and it was just as stinkin' hot as it is today! Ugh!

A girl and her cat...

You know what they say about "a boy and his dog" - I think it's the same for a girl and her cat. Izzy begged me to leave the door open during her rest time "just in case Tonks wanted to come visit." This is what I found when I checked on her after half an hour... I know she has a lot of "friends" in her bed... but the cat at her feet is the real one! :-)

Happy Fourth!

We spent our Saturday evening in Coffman Park watching the Dublin City Fireworks. It was great. The girls had a great time, too!

Here's Brett and Izzy waiting for it to get dark.

And Maddy cheesing for the camera.

Everybody but me hanging out on our blanket.
Inside the football stadium, they play music to the fireworks. We could hear them and Maddy was "dancing" - it was hilarious!

Dolphins! Sea Lions!

Brett and I took the girls to a place called the Gulfarium in Destin. It's a "marine show park" where you see a dolphin show, a sea lion show, and a show with both! We also got to see sharks, sting rays, penguins and alligators. The girls loved watching the dolphins jump and splash. We weren't fast enough to get pictures of any of the big tricks, but we did get a shot of the dolphins at the trainer's platform.
This is 7 year old Lily and 4 year old Ariel - both Atlantic bottle-nosed dolphins. Lily's mother, Delilah, was also in the show with them - she's 35 years old! Lily's brother, Zach, is the largest Dolphin at the Gulfarium - he performed with Kyle, the sea lion, in the mixed species show! We had a great family day!

Vacation... Destin, FL

Well, I think I've given up on trying to "catch up" - I think it was February last time I posted! But, here's what we've been up to recently. We just spent a week in Destin, FL with some of our best friends - the Holland and Rhea families. 8 days, 7 kids, 6 adults, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 families, 2 pools, and 1 beach! Whew! We had a great time.

First full-day at the beach - a beautiful day! No oil in sight and nice calm waves that the kids could play in. Maddy wasn't crazy about the water, but enjoyed playing in the sand. The bigger kids loved jumping in the waves. Pictures are of Brett and Brian playing in the sand with the kids and Tasha with Maddy.
The afternoon we tried to go back to the beach, just the Fry Family, we found Tar Balls. Boo! The little black chunks are the tar balls - they are solid and about an inch in diameter. But, you can smush them with your toes or fingers and they have kind of a gummy consistency. And, it's hard to get off of hands and feet and stroller wheels. They did a good job of cleaning up the beach and we were able to spend a little more time there before we left - but we just walked in the water, no swimming. Our private pool in the back yard was so great! The kids had a great time and all the adults enjoyed cooling off, too - the temps were over 90 every day we were there! We also had access to the larger and deeper community pool, which we visited a few times, too. It got really crowded when the beach was in poor condition, though. The mommies had a nice relaxing morning at the community pool without kids... that was fun!
